Testimonials
Volunteering is a passion for Shining Student Ladan Yousef
"My academic writing professor, Daniela Fontenelle-Tereshchuk, played a significant role in boosting my confidence in writing and presenting. Her continuous encouragement and challenges throughout the semester allowed me to excel in her class, as well as in my other courses. Daniella also sparked my interest in research, a field I am now actively pursuing in my career." Ladan Yousef

5. Less Can Be More - When kids are facing difficulty at school, parents shouldn’t feel responsible for filling the role of “teacher” at home. “Keep in mind that ‘less is more’ when practiced consistently,” says Daniela Fontenelle-Tereshchuk, PhD, of the University of Calgary. “Short, simple and consistent activities suitable to each family’s unique dynamic may be more effective than trying to cover the whole curriculum at home. Ask your child’s teacher about the main things your child is struggling with and how you can help.”
Media | So, should schools really reopen right now?
"As of today, we do not fully understand the long-term consequences that e-learning may have on child development. In a study published by Daniela Fontenelle-Tereshchuk, editorial assistant for the Journal of Educational Thought, run by the Werklund School of Education, she writes: “The mental health of both parents and students is a concern to education due to the uncertainty surrounding this unprecedented time that people worldwide are experiencing, mainly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

"The objective of this article is to present a literature review concerning the psychiatric consequences associated with the Covid 19 pandemic, in the pediatric population. This review is realized with Pubmed Database, using Covid 19, Coronavirus, child, children, adolescent, mental health, psychiatric or psychological consequences as keywords. We propose to present an inventory of current research-based on three factors: fear linked to the pandemic, the consequences of the stay-at-home confinement, and the risks of cumulative trauma."
